Read - Published Works

In 1998, I was approached by quarterly Bath and West Life Magazine, to write The House Beautiful, a regular interiors feature. In early 2000, after one of my projects had been featured in the magazine Period House, I became one of their experts writing regular editorial for them.

I have a special interest in the use of traditional colours and pigments, and also the use of neutral paint effects for contemporary living, and have since written regular, informative interior design articles for Period House. Interesting subjects have included painted floors and kitchen transformations, stunning effects for woodwork and furniture, achievable paint effects for walls, using period colours and clever use of neutrals. Some of these featured in the 'Amateur Expert' series.

Sourcing interesting illustrations for written work can often be a problem, so for some articles I produced samples for scanning on wood, plasterwork and card. These worked very well in print.
